"The US power grid presently faces its most critical challenge.  Demand is increasing at an unprecedented rate as a result of the increasing proliferation of Artificial Intelligence (AI), onshoring and reshoring of manufacturing, electrification of vehicles, and organic growth.  The grid faces additional challenges from extreme events that are occurring more frequently and with more severity.  At the same time the grid is under pressure to reduce carbon emissions considerably over the next 25 years with some states having goals to reach net zero by 2050.  Power grid infrastructure is aging and in need of significant repair and replacement.
Our existing policies have failed us. For the US to accomplish these goals while also maintaining reliability and resilience on the power grid, policy changes must be made. Several key areas require legislative changes as well as a new approach at both the federal and state level."
